Berkeley College Foundation INC., names chair of the board and executive director

Berkeley College Foundation, Inc., has appointed John Phillips, CEO & Co-Founder, UltraMEND, Inc., as Chair of the Board, and Dario A. Cortes, PhD, Senior Vice President, Strategic Alliances, Berkeley College, as Executive Director.

The Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to raising scholarship funds to be awarded primarily to Berkeley College students to help them defray the cost of tuition and to participate in educational enrichment activities. The 501(c)(3) charitable organization also plans to award grants to other worthy charitable organizations. Mr. Phillips co-founded medical device company UltraMEND, Inc., in 2013, and has nearly 15 years of experience in the healthcare startup industry. He also has served on the Board of Directors of the Molly Center for Children with Diabetes and Endocrine Disorders at Hackensack University Medical Center in Hackensack, NJ, for nearly 20 years.

Dr. Cortes served as the President of Berkeley College from 2008 to 2015. As Executive Director, Dr. Cortes will be responsible for managing the activities of the Berkeley College Foundation, including fundraising. He will establish partnerships and relationships with corporations and businesses, working closely with the Office of Alumni Relations.
