Columbia Bank Foundation supports the Berkeley College Foundation's virtual food drive

October 7, 2020

The Columbia Bank Foundation, the charitable giving support of Columbia Bank, has granted the Berkeley College Foundation $2,500 to help fight food insecurity.

To help students succeed, the Berkeley College Foundation launched the food insecurity resource with a ribbon-cutting ceremony in January 2019. The food pantry, located at Berkeley College’s Newark campus on Broad Street, was made possible through a $10,000 donation from the Foundation. The pantry continues to grow each year, serving the population of continuing and new students.

In a recent conversation with Berkeley College students, they shared their experiences when using the food pantry.

“The Berkeley College Foundation Food Pantry has made a positive impact on my life by allowing me to have access to free food and toiletries that may cost a lot if I shopped at grocery stores.” -Marc-Arthur Cadet

“The Berkeley College Foundation Food Pantry has provided household needs weekly for the college students who struggle. Even while working a full-time job, this pantry still helps me make ends meet.” -Al-Samir Greene

The Columbia Bank Foundation is committed to serving the needs of its local communities. The Foundation actively seeks and focuses on innovative programs that provide a measurable impact in the communities that it serves.

The mission of the Berkeley College Foundation is to provide financial support for student success, including through scholarships and educational enrichment.
