BERKELEY COLLEGE FOUNDATION NAMES ELLEN ZITIS AS EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
The Berkeley College Foundation recently announced the appointment of Ellen Zitis as Executive Director. Zitis, a resident of Wyckoff, NJ, previously served as Associate Director, Northeast Regional Advancement, for William & Mary, a premier public research university, where she managed donor outreach and planned giving for university alumni in the New York City and Philadelphia metro areas.
“Ellen’s energy, leadership and creativity will help the Foundation excel in its mission to provide support and resources to Berkeley College students pursuing quality experiences in higher education,” said Donna M. Boles, Chair, Board of Directors, Berkeley College Foundation.
Since 2018, the Berkeley College Foundation has awarded 35 scholarships to help Berkeley College students defray the cost of tuition and to participate in educational enrichment activities. In addition, contributions from the Foundation helped to establish food pantries at the Newark, NJ, campus in 2019, and at the Midtown Manhattan campus in 2021, which are available to all Berkeley College students.
“I am inspired by the mission of the Berkeley College Foundation and its role in helping Berkeley College students achieve their dreams and professional goals,” Zitis said. “I am honored to help the Foundation continue its work as a positive force in the community.”
In her new role, Zitis oversees operations and fundraising for the Berkeley College Foundation.
Zitis brings more than 30 years of business experience in the media and higher education industries. Prior to her work in higher education, she was an account executive and managed advertising sales in media for North Jersey Media Group, Gannett, the USA TODAY network and The Star-Ledger. She earned multiple awards and recognitions for exceeding sales goals and was a finalist for the North Jersey Media Group company-wide President’s Award, recognizing contribution to division sales success.
Zitis has served as a community volunteer through the Volunteer Center of Bergen County and at various soup kitchens and food pantries. While employed by North Jersey Media Group, she also served as the employee fundraising liaison between The United Way of Bergen County and The Record newspaper.
Zitis holds a Bachelor of Science, with dual majors in Marketing and Industrial Relations, from Syracuse University in Syracuse, NY.
